How do you choose which businesses to list?
A business must be based in the Illawarra or have verifiable work in the region, and have a public website or Google Business Profile we can check. See Add a business.
Where does the information come from?
Google Business Profiles, the business's own website, public directories and records, and Wikidata for locations. Each profile lists its sources. Our methodology explains the checks.
Do you publish reviews?
No. We show a business's Google rating and review count as they were on the date we checked, and link to Google so you can read the reviews there. See our review guidelines.
What does “Featured” mean?
A featured business is shown first on the home page and in its category. Featured placement is always labelled, isn't a rating, and a featured business goes through the same checks as every other listing.
Why are some Sydney businesses listed?
Some businesses are based in Sydney but work in Wollongong and the Illawarra. Their profiles show where they're really based and link to the evidence of their local work.
Is a listing a recommendation?
No. A listing is a starting point, not an endorsement. Check licences, insurance and recent work with the business directly. NSW builders and tradespeople can be checked with NSW Fair Trading.
Something on a profile is wrong. How do I fix it?
Send us the correction with a public source that shows the right information. See Corrections.
How often are profiles checked?
Each profile shows the date it was last checked. Profiles are rechecked when we receive a correction and during regular reviews.
